Help for Your Closet

Closets are an incredibly versatile source for storage. They can be used for clothing, linens, sports equipment, gifts or even as a small office! However you decide to use them, use them well. With all of the products on the market today, it is easy to efficiently customize the space to your personal needs.

To maximize the space in a clothes closet, it is important to review its contents at least twice a year. Begin by placing all of the hangers backwards, with the hooks pointing toward you. After an item has been worn, it is replaced in the closet in the "normal" hanging position. At the end of each season, you can quickly see which items you haven't worn, and you should consider donating them. Sorting clothes by type (long-sleeved shirts, jackets, pants, etc.) and then by color, will make an item easier to locate. It will also help you to analyze your clothing needs.

Tip

When you remove an item from your closet, place the empty hanger back in the same location. This will help maintain your color organization scheme.
